Lucy Parsons Center: Zine/Book Reading With Erick Lyle & Cindy Crabb (Ekaina 17 at 19:30)
Erick Lyle of "SCAM" magazine reads from his new book, "On The Lower Frequencies: A Secret History of The City", out now from Soft Skull Press. Lyle looks back at highlights and tactics of the past ten years of activism in a gentrified San Francisco -- including tales of squatted community centers, ... (more)punk shows in the streets, and protesters shutting down San Francisco when the war started. Cindy Crabb discusses the intersection of anarchism and personal history with stories from her inspiring zine "Doris". Erick's book site: http://onthelowerfrequencies.com/ Cindy's zine site: http://dorisdorisdoris.com/ Erick Lyle has been the editor of "SCAM" magazine since 1991 and has been playing in bands and organizing DIY punk shows and protests for just as long. His work has appeared in "Raritan" and the San Francisco Bay "Guardian" and on NPR's "This American Life". Lyle is a former street outreach worker with the Coalition On Homelessness San Francisco and squatter and he lives in downtown San Francisco. Cindy Crabb has been writing and publishing the autobiographical, political zine "Doris" since 1994. It is a zine about secrets and truth, anarchism and feminism, and the small things that keep us alive. She is the editor of "Support" zine, and is an abuse survivor advocate.

Quimby's Bookstore: Erick Lyle (a.k.a. Iggy Scam) (Abuztua 11 at 19:00)
Join Erick Lyle as he reads from his new book On the Lower Frequencies: A Secret History of The City. On the Lower Frequencies is at once a manual, memoir, and history of creative resistance in a world awash with war and poverty. With these tales of squatting the ruins of the dot-com era, playing ... (more)hit-and-run punk shows in the streets and organizing neighborhood anti-war parades, the editor of the underground classic SCAM magazine, Erick Lyle, traces not only the evolution of cities, but of his own thinking — and in so doing, gives the reader inspiration for living defiantly. Erick Lyle, once upon a time known as Iggy Scam, has been editing SCAM magazine and traveling around the nation in various bands since 1991. Lyle will be playing in Chicago a few days before with his band BLACK RAINBOW at the Mauled By Tigers fest.

Combine with

What?

Q: What is this feature for/why is it necessary?

A: Because LibraryThing draws from so many different libraries, it can't enforce a single name for a given author. "Also known as" lets LibraryThing users combine author's names easily, so collections match up and everything runs smoothly.

Q: Can I combine with an author not suggested above?

A: Yes you can.

Q: I know an author is separate, but some infernal idiot keeps combining them. Can I take a name off the combination list?

A: Yes you can.

Look up! Everything in the "Combine with..." section now has a link to "never combine." Use this feature wisely. "Marc Twain" may be idiotic, but misspelling should still be combined. "Mark Twain" and "Edward Gibbon" should not.

Q: What authors have already been slated to "never combine" with this author?

A: No authors.

Q: I am the infernal idiot and I'm right!

A: Take it to the Combiners group.

Q: What if this author is really two authors?

A: We're working on a solution, but if you want you can post a brief disambiguation notice in the Common Knowledge section.
